Published 09.04.08 — Forget Miami, it's Charm City's time to shine.
The 2008 Baltimore Music Conference will once again put local music in the spotlight by showcasing DJs, bands and artists through performances as well as a variety of workshops, seminars, films and more.
In addition to local music and entertainment, regional, national and international artists also will be featured in the four-day event in Baltimore, Maryland, on Sept. 17-20, 2008.
According to festival producer Lisa Suit, the BMC is “one part music festival and one part educational conference, both presenting promotional, marketing, vending and networking opportunities for all.”
The event location will be varied from large venues to smaller “charming and quaint” settings throughout the city, however The Courtyard Marriott and Hilton Garden Inn in Harbor East, Baltimore, will serve as a central gathering space for the conference and the site of the keynote speaker, workshops, seminars and cocktail parties.
“Much like the BMC though, all (venues) are known to draw a varied and diverse consumer demographic, as this annual event promises to continue to bring recognition to music here in Baltimore as well as worldwide,” Suit said.
Prices vary depending upon the activity with the least expensive ticket for a seminar - under 18 – 1 Day for $10 to an all-access pass for the weekend for $145.
Tickets are available at a number of local locations as well as online at www.brownpapertickets.com.
House music DJ and producer Jesse Saunders will present a live documentary seminar on the history and evolution of the genre. His seminar, “House Music: The Real Story,” is a reflection of his novel by the same title.
